The Recognised School Award:
The Council for Dance Education and Training, or the CDET, is a board based in England, which recognises performance schools and colleges of a certain standard of safe and professional teaching. When schools reach a certain level of teaching, they are then awarded the Recognised School award, like Westside.
But what is it?
This award allows Westside to state that they are a Recognised School with the Council for Dance Education and Training and has been awarded the Council’s certificate of good professional practice. Schools awarded CDET’s Recognised School Award demonstrate to Students, Parents and Guardians that they adhere to the standards demanded by the industry; standards designed to protect and safeguard young people whether dancing for leisure or with an eye to a career in the profession.
Professionalism and Safety
Westside has come a long way since its foundation in 1998, and this award is just another example of this. They are the only school in the Republic of Ireland to have received such a recognition. Impressive, I know. Not only that, the Recognised School Award places Westside at the same level of prestigious and well-known performance colleges like Bird College, CPA Studios and Laine Theatre Arts, so you know that you will receive the same level of safety care and professional teaching as you would in a professional performance college.
Achieving this award was no mean feat either. Forgetting about the heaps of paperwork to go through, the school has to be up to the standard and meet the safety and quality requirements set out by the CDET, which requires years of hard-work and dedication. Schools like Westside, capable of achieving such a recognition, don’t just spring up overnight. Westside Performing Arts has worked hard and tirelessly over the years to reach the standard cited by the CDET.
This award lets both current and future students know that they are entering a school that is equally invested in its professionalism and its safety. All the Westside teachers are appropriately qualified and trained in their respect, with the teaching faculty boasting degrees from both home and abroad, and are more than capable of teaching their students the important things, like how to sing Let It Go properly.
What You See Is What You Get
Now with classes almost seven days a week in two different venues, it is no surprise that Westside Performing Arts have received this award of recognition. They strive for professionalism and do the best they can do for their Students, and have done since day one. Westside Performing Arts are known for their commitment to professionalism in their studios and their stage productions, this award just confirms it by someone else. Having their standard of teaching recognised by the CDET is a testament to the hard work that is done behind the scenes by Elizabeth and Gerry, seven days a week. The school has made countless leaps and jetés since opening its doors, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to stop anytime soon. So if you hear of someone in the need of high-standard, highly professional school with a commitment to their Students and their safety, send ‘em this way. Because that’s what you get here.
